23 pretty essential mixing tips I've learned along my 18+ years of producing electronic music. These are in no particular order or importance. Go through them all... they may make your break your music!

Here are the first three on the list to give you an idea of what you'll get:

1. Before selecting your first sound, think ahead and plan which elements and frequencies will be necessary for your project. This may seem daunting, but it's easier than you think. For example, when creating a Techno track, you should consider incorporating a kick drum, clap/snare, hi-hats, bass line, chords, and a synth. Having a clear idea of your desired outcome will make the process smoother.

2. Prioritizing Sound Design and Sample Selection: The initial step in the mixing process is selecting sounds and samples that complement each other and hit the desired frequencies. Keep in mind, the ultimate goal is to create a cohesive sound, not just individual parts that sound good on their own. Even if you have a fantastic synth lead, it may clash with your drums during the mix. Invest time in choosing the right sounds before finalizing the mix.

3. Adjust the pitch of your drums to match the key of the track. Doing so will enhance the overall sound by avoiding a messy and dissonant mix. It is particularly important to do this with the kick drum. Give it a try, the results may surprise you!
